If a third party is involved, for example if somebody else is paying for your sessions, factual information will be shared on a “need to know” basis only (for example they will be sent the invoice for the sessions, can therefore see how often you have/haven’t attended). However, no content of the sessions or anything that was talked about in the sessions will be shared with the third party unless I have your written agreement.

Limitation to Confidentiality
There are rare cases, in which I will not be able to maintain my commitment to confidentiality. I would –wherever possible – discuss with you the reason for the need to share information with relevant others.

Reasons for sharing information are:

  1. Any concerns of a risk of harm to you or another person
  2. Activities that require a legal referral

Data Protection
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and abide by their guidelines.

Your personal information and any session notes will be kept separate and securely locked away. I will collect some routine statistical information, which is kept anonymous and purely serves evaluative purposes.

I am committed to the highest standards of professional practice and adhere to the ethical framework of my professional body, the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This protection of privacy concerns the content of the sessions, as well as your written records, and extends to your attendance.
